Rajasthan Palace and Deserts

15 Day's :
New Delhi - Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur - Pushkar - Udaipur - Ranakpur - Jodhpur - Jaisalmer - Mumbai

If there is a state that deserves more than others a visit, it is indeed Rajasthan. You will find a mix of poor land and arid but beautiful desert interspersed with splendid palaces of Maharajas. Then, you will walk like in a dream because the unreal is everywhere. Nothing can compare to our origins. Land of art and history , trades, religions, migrations , everything is there to move you from the cities to the carved facades, to huge palaces often perched on high sandstone rocks which represent in themselves stunning and true technical prowess. This is certainly the famous Taj Mahal which will be for us the highlight of our trip, the wonder of the Indian world.

If the trip comes in November, we will probably attend the extraordinary festival of Pushkar. We will visit the colourful and fabled Camel fair, with many colours, smells, sensations, emotions. From sunrise to sunset, the atmosphere is unique, men wearing sumptuous turbans, and women their finest jewellery. They do their business of exchange at the gate of one of the rare temple dedicated to Lord Brahma in India. In addition to all this, we will be able to attend a music festival there and even some interesting interreligious presentations and discussions.

You can find something special in every city of Rajasthan, like Jaipur for its pink-coloured, palaces, Udaipur City of lake and forts for its beauty, Ranakpur for its Jain temples. As for Jodhpur, it represents a famous, almost ideal tourist destination in India because of its ancient castles, the magnificent Fort, the royal Palaces and most importantly the amazing Thar Desert which comes close to the city. Jodhpur is called the Sun City, as the town enjoys bright and sunny weather all the year. It is called the Blue City too, because of the blue-painted houses around the Fort in the old city. Of course, Jodhpur was located between two powerful rulers and enemies, the Mughals and the Marathas, hence it holds exciting ancient palaces and places, with a museum gathering elements of this history. Besides, if you want to admire a mixture of Havelies, Jain temples, wildlife and most important to be involved into an adventure with camels through the dunes, Jaiselmer is waiting for you.
